Irish international David McGoldrick has left Ipswich Town after five years at the club.
Paul Hurst confirmed today that the striker who netted 45 goals in 159 appearances has not been offered a new deal.
Even though many consider him to be Town’s most technically gifted player, his prolific injuries and 30 years of age may have meant it would have been a gamble to keep him at the club for longer.
McGoldrick joined Town in January 2013 initially on loan, before the deal was made permenant in the following summer transfer window. On his day he could be excellent but many fans now should agree that it would be a waste of wages for him to stay on when we have younger forwards coming through the ranks.
Hurst also confirmed that Mustapha Carayol has not returned to training and stated it was ‘unlikely’ he would be recalled. Carayol impressed many when he arrived in January, especially when he scored on his away debut against Preston but similarly to David, injuries plagued his time at Town.
We can also expect the Chabolah deal to be announced on Town’s social media officially in the upcoming days.
