According to reports, Town are said to be fighting with Hull and West Brom for Scunthrope left-back Conor Townsend.
Scunthorpe have already rejected a £250,000 bid from Hull, who let him leave on a free two years ago.
The 25-year-old has since emerged as one of the most consistent left backs in League One, and Scunthorpe said to want £600,000 for his services.
He previously played under Ipswich manager Paul Hurst during his time in charge of Grimsby Town.
Townsend has one year left on contract at the League One side, and West Brom are also said to be keen in the defender.
